August Blues

August Blues was first established in Canada as a business with my mom. We sewed all sorts of home goods and sleepwear in our favorite shades of blue and white. When my husband and I moved to Texas, I set August Blues aside, but kept the name in my back pocket, just in case…Some years later, with our family now grown to four, I pulled my little business name out of my pocket.

In 2011 and now located in Denton, TX, August Blues was re-born out of a desire to combine the opportunity to be creative with the flexibility of working from home so I could be with our two boys. I have been passionate about home/interior design for as long as I can remember and have been sewing almost as long; this time when I realized that I had slipcovered almost everything in our home, the retailored idea for August Blues Slipcover Studio began to develop. I enjoy the slipcover process - the creativity of design and problem-solving, working with beautiful fabrics, and the joy of breathing new life into my clients’ beloved furniture pieces.

Now, after almost 14 years, my clients come from all parts of the metroplex and even other parts of the country. In 2016 I branched out to begin to offer other soft home furnishings and I found out I could not pass up a good pillow fabric. With lots of pillow fabrics come lots of scraps, so I started making zippered bags. And since then I have fallen in love with linen and now dabble in a variety of linen offerings for the home. I have more ideas than time!

It has been my joy to donate a portion of these sales to various charities who serve to empower and support women around the world, in the same way that developing August Blues has been empowering for me.
