Open to kids ages 9 and up, with help from a parent or guardian!
Class overview and skills learned: Each kit will come with fabric supply for five scrunchies, turn tool, bodkin, and elastic. Students will learn to sew a straight seam, turn their fabric, how to work with elastic, and scrunchie construction. Voila! By the end the students will have scrunchies, and be inspired to make many more!
Machines: All students must have their own personal sewing machine. Students must confirm their machine is in good working condition prior to the class (needle is threaded, and stitches have been made successfully). Because this is a zoom class, there will not be any way for the instructor to troubleshoot machine issues during class.
If the student does not already own a machine, we are recommending a basic Brother machine -- https://www.joann.com/brother-gx37-sewing-machine/17730797.html#start=1
Tip: Joanns usually has coupons available that can be applied to any non sale item in store! Be sure to look before you buy!
Other basic sewing supplies needed: white or neutral colored thread (all purpose poly), bobbin wound with thread, sewing scissors, pin cushion, pearl head pins (in any color is fine), seam ripper.
